What We Do
If you want to build a house you need a blueprint; if you want to build God’s house (kingdom) you need a blueprint as well.
As you come to him, the living Stone—rejected by men but chosen by God and precious to him—you also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.
– I Peter 2:4-5
By faith Abraham, when called to go to a place he would later receive as his inheritance, obeyed and went, even though he did not know where he was going … For he was looking forward to the city with foundations, whose architect and builder is God.
– Hebrews 11:8-10
We envision a church where the people, and especially its members, are growing Deeper in Christ, Stronger in Community and Wider in Influence. For each of those God-given goals we have a corresponding ministry and program that is a primary catalyst for enhancing the process of spiritual growth and maturity.
For Deeper in Christ we offer the Sunday Service. Here people experience all the benefits of a spiritual family in Acts 2:42, “They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.” In this environment they receive teaching from the pastors, have opportunity for fellowship, participate in communion (breaking of bread) and are able to pray with others. They also learn to become receivers AND givers by having opportunity to serve others in one of our many Sunday morning ministries.
For Stronger in Community we offer Small Groups of various sizes and emphasis. Here people are able to love, learn and serve together … to know others and to make themselves known. We seek to build the spiritual DNA of encouragement and accountability into all of our groups.
For Wider in Influence we offer various Faith in Action events and activities to help us serve others in the community and share our faith in Christ. These can and do vary from church-wide and more structured (our Bristoe Station events in ’09) to one-on-one and informal (building relationships with friends, neighbors, co-workers and acquaintances). As we grow as a Body we anticipate and pray for a growing diversity of Faith in Action endeavors.
In addition, we offer ministries, special events, activities and classes that provide bridges between these environments and assist people in moving between them. These include Girls Night Out, Card Club, X-Box, Motorcycle Ministry, basketball, Newcomer’s Socials, cook-outs, baptisms, fund-raising events and core classes, and other men’s, women’s and children’s activities.
